AMY O. SALTER, PHD
Honored as a former Atlanta Urban Teacher Resident (AUTR) for 5 years, I am committed to advancing the understanding the psychological experiences of learners (PK-16) in STEM learning contexts and/or mentoring-like relationships, and improving the academic trajectories of students who experience marginalization (e.g., girls, low-income students, racial/ethnic minorities), particularly through critical, culturally responsive, and equitable frameworks (e.g., mentoring interactions).

About Me
I received my Ph.D. in Educational Psychology at Georgia State University and Master’s of Arts in Teaching (Science) at Georgia State University. However, my foundation at Howard University solidified my commitment to serving underrepresented groups. At Howard, I earned Bachelor’s degrees in both Biology and Sociology and focused my research on conceptual science knowledge and the societal influences on access among underrepresented groups. Currently, I am researching the personal factors influencing STEM students' academic behaviors, STEM mentorship, and acquisition of scientific knowledge through a Postdoctoral Research Associate position at Morehouse College. It through this platform that I organize and manage a team of 7 graduate and undergraduate student researchers from Morehouse College, Spelman College, and Clark Atlanta University.
