Despite the increasing number of job vacancies in STEM, Black people make up only 6% of the STEM workforce. Black students are leaving STEM majors at higher rates (40%) than their Latinx (37%) and White (29%) peers. Black women, in particular, make up a mere 2.9 % of all STEM professionals. The evidence makes us question---will Black men and women be in the room when major decisions and technologies are developed in STEM? If not, what can we do to get them a seat at the table?
